How nice that you want to learn more about SneakerRefresher! My name is Roy Heuzen and I am the founder of this website. For more than fifteen years I have been active in the wonderful world of shoes and sneakers!
On this page you will learn more about my goal with SneakerRefresher.com, how and why this website was created and what is still on the (shoe) shelf for the future.
Why SneakerRefresher.com?
When I went online a while ago looking for manuals to clean shoes, I was a bit shocked. Many home, garden and kitchen websites popped up with shoe cleaning advice. Websites where you can also find manuals for cleaning the kitchen.
That in itself does not have to be a problem, but the number of sites that came up with wrong advice could no longer be counted on one hand. And that is a bad thing, because if you clean shoes incorrectly, you can permanently damage your shoes. Something we naturally want to avoid.
That’s why I decided to start a platform where you get all the tools for cleaning, repairing and maintaining your shoes. In short: for refreshing your sneakers and shoes. SneakerRefresher.com was born!
Why you can trust me
I have been active in the shoe industry on a daily basis for more than fifteen years. As a little boy I learned all about shoes as a shoe salesman at a sports shop in my village. I was sold: from that moment on I wanted to ‘take more steps’ in the world of sneakers!
From that moment on I wanted to ‘make more steps’ in the world of sneakers!
During my training as a sales specialist, I further specialized myself. I selected my internships at shoe stores, got a diploma for a healthy walking consultant and graduated as an entrepreneur. This was the moment for me to realize my dream: from 2018 I am co-owner of a shoe store.
What to expect at SneakerRefresher.com
SneakerRefresher.com is the platform for refurbishing your shoes. Whether it concerns whitening yellowed shoe soles or removing (and preventing) smelly shoes. The website consists of three major categories:
- Cleaning: how to properly clean your sneakers? I share tips for cleaning specific materials, parts and different ways. Because, for example, can you clean shoes in the washing machine? And can you clean all kinds of shoes with vinegar? I’m telling you!
- Reparing: Is your shoe sole coming off? Or is there a hole in the heel of your shoe? Don’t throw your sneakers straight into the trash. Often you can easily fix them if you know how to do it. With my manuals we can check whether you can fix them yourself or whether it is better to have them repaired.
- Maintenance: cleaning shoes is the first step. But keeping shoes clean is of course also important! Good maintenance is half the work. With my tips we make your shoes water resistant, the material of your shoes stays beautiful longer and they can take a beating.

In order to be able to advise you properly, I closely follow the developments of cleaning products for shoes. But not only that: I also test and research gadgets that could make cleaning your sneakers easier.
Does it really work that well? And can you trust that one spray on your very expensive designer shoes? I sacrifice myself and test it for you!

Behind the scenes I’m busy providing SneakerRefresher.com with even more manuals, help guides and tips! But, everything in its time. Quality first. Testing products and writing my manuals takes a lot of time and I don’t want to rush it.
My mission with SneakerRefresher.com is to share my knowledge with as many sneaker enthusiasts as possible. And, because it doesn’t matter whether you clean a leather sneaker in Germany, America or in the Netherlands, I share my knowledge internationally. At the time of writing, SneakerRefresher.com is available in three languages, but hopefully many more will be added soon! Everything step by step.
