The real sneaker enthusiast has a lot to spare for a pair of beautiful sneakers. And when you have a pair of nice sneakers, you want to keep them fresh!
Philips has made a name for itself in the sneaker world in a short time. This is due to the product: Philips sneaker cleaner. With this small device you could easily clean your sneakers, whatever material your sneakers are made of! This seems to be the ideal solution against dirty sneakers. But is this really the case or is it a flop? I tested it for you! Read my Philips sneakers cleaner review for the result!
What’s in the Philips sneaker cleaner box?
Let’s start at the beginning. What do you get when you buy the Philips sneaker cleaner?
The Philips sneaker cleaner comes in a recognizable box that is comparable to the Philips Hue products. A dark blue box with the product highlighted on it. Let’s see what products are in the box.
- Sneaker cleaner
- Sponge brush: The sponge brush is intended for materials such as: PVC, leather, suede and smooth rubber.
- Soft brush: The soft brush is for cleaning mesh, fabric or canvas materials.
- Hard brush: The hard brush is intended for cleaning harder materials. Think of the rubber sole of your sneakers or structured rubber.
- Description: The description states exactly how the Philips sneaker cleaner works. You can read this in different languages.
- 4x AA batteries: the Philips sneaker cleaner takes 4 batteries. You can use the sneaker cleaner immediately, because the first 4 AA batteries are included.
How does the Philips sneaker cleaner work?
The Sneaker cleaner from Philips is easy to use. The manual shows how you can use the attachments and put them on the sneaker cleaner. Below I show you step by step how this works.
- Grab a bowl with soap and water (for the best result I use sneaker crep protect).
- Put the AA batteries in the sneaker cleaner.
- Choose the attachment piece that is needed to clean your sneakers.
- Click the attachment piece on the sneaker cleaner at the front.
- Dip the attachment piece into the soap and water mixture.
- Press the blue button to start cleaning.
- Brush your sneakers clean with the attachment of the sneaker cleaner.
Does the Philips sneaker cleaner do what you can expect?
Yes and no. It certainly makes your sneakers a lot cleaner than they were, but if you expect to easily clean your entire sneakers with this, then I have to disappoint you.
You can easily and quickly remove light stains from sneakers and you can also easily whiten your soles, but it lacks the power to remove stubborn stains from your sneakers.
Review: benefits Philips sneaker cleaner
The advantages of the Philips sneaker cleaner at a glance:

Review: cons Philips sneaker cleaner
The disadvantages of the Philips sneaker cleaner at a glance:
- Not effective on stubborn stains
- When you press a little bit, the sneaker cleaner stops rotating.
- Less effective with suede
My conclusion about the Philips sneaker cleaner review
It’s a nice to have thing that allows you to easily give a quick clean to your sneakers. You can also quickly get your rubber soles a lot whiter with this!
If I look more critically, it is not an improvement on a shoe brush. With a shoe brush you can use more power and brush more precisely on the stains. So this is my preference.
